I like things in my home to be clean just as much as the next person, and I like the look of simplicity and less clutter. Somehow, that has translated to a lack of any color in the blogs I read. As pretty as that can look, it doesn't show much personality.
There is a place for white and my traditional side likes a beautiful gloss white on the trim and a white ceiling. But the walls need something. Even gray is better than white. And gray is exactly what I am thinking for our walls, a nice calming gray.
But the reason I want to do gray walls is so I can bring in as much color, pattern and texture as I want.
I love a good print! LOVE. And I love a beautiful pattern and a colorful antique rug. How do you decide what goes together and what doesn't?
Start with the basics...a rug, a pillow a blanket. Pick a focal point pattern in your room that you love and want to pull from. I usually pick the rug because it is easy to do and I usually pick a colorful one :)
These are some examples of items I chose to represent how to blend color, patterns and texture...
An antique Persian rug
A large Cheetah Print throw pillow (Pottery Barn)
A Kilim pillow cover
The distressed leather chesterfield is absolutely gorgeous. It is timeless and really anchors the room.
Here are all the elements put together on a mood board so you can see how they coordinate. It's my first time using it so leave comments and let me know what you think of everything!
Enjoy your day! It's actually sunny here today so I am off to work on a project outside!
P.S. I had leftover pizza for breakfast so.... you can't get much better than that!
